BHT Design were approached to design and develop a website for an innovative model where social enterprises can access funding and support from large businesses.
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and Legal & General with funding from the Cabinet Office through NESTA’s Innovation in Giving Fund, have developed a package of support for social enterprises, which includes mentoring from a Legal & General employee, up to £10,000 interest-free loan and access to up £5,000 worth of expert consultancy.
The site consisted of information about the project, latest news, criteria and personnel, together with a comprehensive application form built into the back end. It was crucial that the application process was as accessible as possible, with user experience (UX) being high on the agenda of subsequent discussions.
BHT Design were also asked to implement the strongest levels of security around the site, as applicants were providing sensitive information about their business proposals. Appropriate security certificates and a virtual private server were set up to ensure solid data protection.
Social networking implementation was of paramount importance in the lead up to the project’s launch, in order to reach out to as many potential candidate businesses as possible.
It was great to be able to undertake a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of this nature, and to gain experience working with one of Brighton’s biggest employers. The project is now supporting several social enterprises to achieve their aims, and all involved hope to be able to expand to more sites around the UK in the future.
